Christmas Appetizers by Mr. Goodstuff

Like a lot of folks always searching for Christmas appetizers that will tantalize taste buds and add a festive touch to holiday celebrations, these finger food ideas can be used for appetizers, party snacks, a light lunch, the first course of a dinner, or just nibblies as you drink some fantastic wine.

There's nothing fiddly to make, nothing to go right or wrong, recipes that can be prepared in 30 minutes or less and everyone loves them.


Glazed Cocktail Sausages


Ingredients

  • 3 Packets Mr Goodstuff Plain Sausages

  • 125ml Chinese Sweet Chilli Sauce

  • 60ml Cranberry Sauce

  • 60ml Soy Sauce

  • 1 x 15 ml Tablespoon Brown Sugar

  • Juice of 1 Mandarin

  • Juice of 1 Lime

Recipe

  1. Preheat the oven to 200C

  2. Put the cocktail sausages in a foil-lined roasting baking tray.

  3. Mix the Chilli, Cranberry and Soy Sauces in a measuring jug and whisk in the Sugar along with the Mandarin and Lime Juices.

  4. Pour the glaze over the cocktail sausages and turn them so they are evenly coated, before putting the tray in the oven for 30-40 minutes, with a gentle turnover after 20, by which time they should be hot, burnished and gorgeously sticky.

  5. Make ahead as above and freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the fridge.


Ham & Pineapple Cheese Balls


Ingredients:

  • Cheddar Cheese – softened, so it’s easy to mix.

  • Crushed Pineapple

  • Powdered Sugar (totally optional) Not a fan of sweet? Add a dash of hot sauce!

  • Green Onions

  • Mr. Goodstuff Ham that you then chop into fine pieces

  • Chopped Walnuts

Recipe:

  1. Mix all ingredients aside from the walnuts together, and roll the mixture into a ball (You can put it in plastic wrap to shape).

  2. Chill until firm, then roll in crushed walnuts.

  3. Refrigerate until you want to serve. Allow to warm to room temperature

  4. Serve with crackers.


Mini Croque Monsieurs


Ingredients:

  • Smoked Cheese Slices

  • Mr.Goodstuff Ham Slices

  • Dijon Mustard

  • Butter

  • Flour

  • Milk

  • Salt and Pepper

  • Grated Parmesan Cheese

Recipe:

  1. Pre-heat the oven to 400F.

  2. Toast each side of the bread for 2 mins by applying butter on each side.

  3. Remove the toasted bread and top them with a layer of mustard, 2 slices of cheese, ham, another 2 slices of cheese and a top slice of bread.

  4. Cut each sandwich into 4 pieces

  5. Scoop the SAUCE' on to the tops of the mini sandwiches.

  6. Put the tray into the oven for about 6 minutes. Turn the broiler on and broil the tops for about 4 minutes or until the cheese it hot and bubbly. Don't let the bread burn!

  7. That's it!

- For the Sauce -

  1. In a sauce pan, melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Add the flour and whisk until smooth and golden colored.

  2. Slowly whisk in the milk and raise the beat just a little and whisk until the sauce starts to thicken.

  3. Add salt and pepper to taste.

  4. Once it starts to chicken, remove it from the beat and add the Parmesan cheese. whisk until the cheese melts.


Bacon Wrapped Cheese Hotdogs


Ingredients:

  • Mr. Goodstuff Ham

  • Mr Goodstuff Bacon

  • Cheese Slices

Recipe:

  1. Defrost your favourite chicken/pork Oxford sausages and pork bacon from Mr. Goodstuff

  2. Cook the sausages and bacon until slightly soft

  3. Make a slit in the middle of the sausages. Fill it up with thin strips of sliced cheese.

  4. Wrap the bacon around the sausage and place it on a grill pan for 5-10 minutes
